Yesterday CC#1 did her piano, scripture, math assessment, handwriting, spelling, language, reading, history, french.
CC#2 did the Aof Faith practice, counting practice, number recognition, letters and phonics, handwriting, and painting.
She insisted that she doesn't need piano anymore because she already knows how to do it and wants to play guitar. There's a gemini for you. I told her that she has to learn to be useful at church before quitting piano and she said okay but still wants to play guitar (because daddy does).
For scriptures the kids listen to a few verses at breakfast, CC#2 reads a couple of verses plus a chapter of the reader, she reads a section of The Friend magazine, and we sing songs and recite the A of F.
For math CC#1 and sometimes CC#2 is doing a game/activity. Yesterday they played with pattern blocks and did a sorting activity plus CC#1 did her math assessment.
For handwriting CC#1 & 2 do one side of a handwriting book page and CC#1 does an additional copy work page.
For spelling CC#1 does one chapter a week. First day she does the first page and writes out each word five times. Second and third day she does the last three pages. Day four she does a writing assignment using the words and the fifth day she has a test and does a review.
For language she is working on pronouns right now. She has memorized facts and we repeat those and some poems she's memorized. Sometimes there is a narration where she reads a story and then writes (or I tell the story and write) what she learned and then draws a picture.
For reading I usually never have to make her do silent sustained reading because she reads so much already. You should see the librarians faces when we check out books. We always have over 100 books checked out at the library and CC#1 reads a lot of them more than once, plus our own books from home. I occassionally just make her do a reading page to check her reading. When I read to her I check her comprehension and work on vocabulary.
For History we use the Story of the World book with teacher activity book. I highly recommend these books. My sister was over so she read to CC#1 the history section and we looked at the encyclopedia pages. She colored a coloring page and did her map. She also drew and decorated a picture to describe the lesson. Tomorrow we'll review the information, do a quiz, do an activity and maybe more coloring.
For French we have a lot of choices. We have a kids' program, my stuff from college, music and DVD, tapes, and some books. CC#1 and I just went over a few pages in a book.
The kids also got to hear some stories, did some exercise, go to ballet and the library. (plus chores)
Today it was much the same. Piano, scriptures (except I read the Friend to them) and for math we played a game involving addition and CC#1 did worsheet and problem page. CC#2 did her counting practice and played with the geoboard.
CC#1 did a spelling test and started a new lesson. She did her handwriting and for language she made up sentences using and identifying pronouns. WE didn't really do reading. I worked with CC#2 a lot on her reading today.
CC#2 did dolphins for science: reading a section in the encyclopedia and writing a page about it. She drew a dolphin and painted a couple of pictures.
She hasn't done French yet really, but we did listen to some French songs.
We had kids over to play this afternoon.
